nexworld

Nexworld formed in 2006 after Flo Dauner, Josée Hurlock, Knut Knutson and Uwe Metzler decided that the time was right for something refreshing in a scene full of male-fronted guitar bands. Former Hefner singer Josée Hurlock, challenges listeners with a marriage between life-affirming hooks and gripping lyrics. Uwe Metzlers guitar riffs soar above the heavyweight foundation that is Flo Dauner on drums and Knutson on Bass with the result being, that Nexworld rock in a big way! In the tradition of Britains and Americas finest guitar bands:

it’s all about energy and emotional authenticity.

Gee and Josée

Gee Hye Lee and Josée met as Josée phoned around for a last-minute replacement Jazz pianist. She had just one number left to try-Gee´s! Luckily Gee had time and as the two played that first gig together, they realised that their musical personalities complemented each other well. Gee,born in Seoul, Korea, came to Europe after deciding that Jazz was her passion. She´s been playing piano since the age of 3 and lists Bill Evans and McCoy Tyner amongst her influences. Often swapping piano for Rhodes the two play not only the traditional Jazz “Standards”(with and without band), but for club gigs also blend elements of contemporary and “Old School” RnB, Funk and Soul resulting in a fresh, dynamic and colourful mix.

Hefner

Hefner is the alter-ego of Lee Jones born in Essex, England. Lee first started making music as a student at York University where he studied Film and Television. Using the traditional musical methods of melody and composition as well as considerable programming and production skills he creates music that fuses many forms. Signed to independant label Inertia in´97. He went on to release the E.P´s “Car Chase” and “An Evening with Hefner”. Shortly afterwards he started work on material for his first album. Putting word out he was looking for a female vocalist, Josée was introduced through a mutual friend. They were definitely on the same wavelength-Lee´s unique feel for a groove and ability in creating beautiful, scenic music, fitted perfectly with Josée´s voice. Written and recorded in London, the album “Residue” was released on Inertia in 2000. After getting a live band together with Chris Johnson on drums and Seth Benet on bass, Hefner played gigs across the U.K and mainland Europe. Highlights being a live performance on D.J Giles Petersons´ BBC Radio 1 show “Worldwide”, the North Sea Jazz Festival, Drum Rhythm Festival and a Gauloises sponsored tour around Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

In 2004,  Lost Souls Dancing (Inertia), the second collaboration between Jones and Hurlock was released under Josée´s name.
